Another update from THE best fashion show... Burberry Porsum were all drapes and gathers, macs had a sumptuous textured update and were always cinched in at the waist. The fur coat below is dripping in 1970s glamour but looks totally modern with tres poker-straight hair, metallic platforms and sheer mink leggings. Metallics featured prominently but not in a scary futuristic way; the subtle mint, pale gold and thunder-cloud silver were used to maximum effect in relatively simple shapes and drapes.
Update from day 4 of London Fashion Week (Monday 21st). Twenty8Twelve, Sienna and Savannah Miller's fashion line was my favourite collection of the day. The mixture of tough, cut-off denim, mixed with girlie florals and soft pastel shades screamed of sienna's quintessentially british style. I think what I loved about the collection was the contrast between the big tough black crucifixes and the models' baby-soft fluffy hair. Something just worked.
A quick update from London Fashion Week day 3 (Sunday 20th Sept)... Matthew Williamson produced a collection of metallics and flashes of cerise and lime; embellishments also featured prominently on body-conscious shapes.
Eley Kishimoto's collection certainly caught my eye. The eclectic mixture of strong geometric, floral and Aztec prints were interesting, creative and when mixed with a fluid palette of school-girl blue and pale grey made sure the designs are very wearable on the highstreet, although many only for the very brave!
My favourite from day 3 certainly has to be Vivienne Westwood's Red Collection. Reminiscent of pirate swashbuckling fabric in sophisticated stripes and tribal prints draped in exquisite folds nonchalently yet very very chic and perfect for Spring/Summer 2010.
Almost forgot... London Fashion Week starts 18th September, don't miss it!

Sorry i haven't written for a while, been majorly busy with work and studying. I want to talk grunge.. yes, THE trend of the 90s (in my opinion). It was all about Nirvana; slashed jeans, earthy, loose knits with pretty much anything torn, worn and looking like you just have way too many gigs to go to to care what you're wearing. Of course now, the trend is back and boy am I excited. In fact, the trend has been growing since Spring/Summer 09 but Autumn/Winter is definitely the ultimate time to really get immersed in new grunge (or neo-grunge). I'm definitely into buying some black tie-up work-esque boots and wrapping a check flannel shirt around, with black tights or leggings and plenty of 'i don't care' attitude. Let me know what you think of this trend because I ♥ it!
my Topshop order arrived today, amongst the items was a très chic breton stripe cropped cotton tee. it is simply very cute and very Parisian, a trend seen on many fashionistas (kate moss, alexa chung etc.) and I have to say, one I am really into à la moment (see what I did there?). the shape of my new buy is sloppy and I’m not totally convinced about it so I am thinking I may do a wee faire une retouche and take it in at the sides for a comfy less baggy look, though not too tight. I absolutely adore the white thick stripe, triangle heel sandals (also bought from trusty Topshop) which, so long as august holds up and we see more sunshine will work perfectly with the Parisian look now and heading into autumn. Perhaps the Parisian look is in homage to the current fashion flick ‘Coco before Chanel’ or just because those French are just so darned stylish but I’m loving the look and will be keeping my keen eye on other Breton stripe, understated items for my trans-seasonal wardrobe.
i went shopping earlier in the hope of finding something chic to wear for my sister's birthday bbq happening later on today but was exasperated with basically not finding diddly squat. in fact, the whole experience was rather uninspiring.. so i left empty handed but with the memory of one item... a sequin embellished biker jacket in topshop for £85. it was very unique, wearable now or in the coming months and if i had £85 to spare, it would have been snapped up instantly. on the flip side, i've just purchased a great pair of white elastic strap sandals from the topshop website, some distressed skinny trousers and a very cute and very parisian long-sleeved crop button-backed t-shirt. i'm now pleasantly content for a saturday afternoon and will just h
there are those magical times when something you've been searching for for a while ends up on a shelf in a shop right in front of your eyes with a teeny tiny price tag. this happened to me the other day as my hat search entered its second or so month and i finally found a lovely straw boater hat, black trim, perfect, and it only cost £2.99. thank goodness for charity shops. also, i inadvertently purchased a pair of super slouchy jeans the other day which are my new favourite comfy but chic item, perfect with sandals, canvases, wedges.... and my yummy new boater hat.
one of my favourite pastimes is perusing the new season collections of high street stores. so today i made my almost daily visit to topshop and was pleasantly surprised and excited by the gothic-laced, too soon for halloween, devilishly delightful 'horror girl' collection. it's all about eerie black, white and grey prints, distressed leather and elegant blouses all mixed together with lashings of smeary black eyeliner. the horror-movie inspired collection is versatile, quirky and a brilliant replacement of rock chick. below are my favourite key pieces.
thinking i may have jinxed the weather in my blog the other week... where has the summer gone! boo
